Vancouver report #1

Sorry I've been so remiss guys. The convention has kept me busy and it didn't help that all of us Supernatural fans seemed to have broke the internet at the hotel last night. Some far more dedicated fans than I have put a lot more effort into it than I have (I know, I'm a bad podcaster) but here is a link that will take you to all of their sites. http://www.supernaturalwiki.com/index.php?title=Salute_to_Supernatural_Vancouver_2009

On twitter, check out @mishacollins and @GroveGoddess (Tracie Dinwiddle), who both twitted about the convention.

Trust me, they reminded me of things that I had forgotten.

Some highlights right off the top of my head:
Gabe Tigerman (Andy Gallagher) - Admitted his first TV crush was actually Annie Potts from Designing Women, which might have set up a crush on Jensen as the audience had called out, then became very embarrased he had admitted it. He talked how much he loves married life. He admitted he would love to work with Michael C. Hall (who plays the title role on Dexter), who he has a complete man crush on, even though the first time he ever saw Michael was when they had just removed Invisalign braces, and there was a line of spit going from Gabe's mouth to the braces, which obviously grossed Michael out before he moved on. Gabe said he would love to be on Dexter, and even wouldn't mind getting killed by Dexter as long as he doesn't get eviserated by a demon girl without fighting back.

Alona Tal (Jo Harvell) - She shared the stage with Julie and Traci, so her time was limited. After answering what the audition process was like, and responding that her military experience seemed to help, she did seem to get a slight bit upset because you could tell she had creative differences with the writting and directing staff about Jo's character.

Julie McNiven (Anna Milton) - In answer to a question about Mad Men, Julie managed to make a reference to both oral and anal (fixations) prompting Alona to ask "Don't you play an angel?" She talked about filming the scene in the back of the Impala in Heaven and Hell, and how Jensen made her fell comforable. For the Titanic moment, it was filmed on another day and Jensen wasn't on set.

Traci Dinwiddle (Pamela Barns) - When asked if her character was resurrected (sp? sorry), who would she like to have bring her back, she said Daddy Winchester, because then she would resurrect him. In response to Julie talking about Misha, Tracie responded, in a very suggestive manor, that she knew what she would do with Misha. Traci said she was warned that Jared and Jensen were tricksters, but probably because they did expect her to be so bold, they didn't pull any tricks on her.

Gabe, Alona, Julie, Tracie, and Aldis Hodge (Jake Talley) all came to a Karoke party after Steve Carlson's performance. Unfortunately, my attendance of this event was very limited since there were a lot of people in a very confined area, which unfortuantly I do not deal well with.

Aldis Hodge - Aldis answered a lot of questions about Leverage, a show Thena has tried unsuccessfully to get me into. I'm sorry, but I'm forgetting most of the points, but I'm sure links to other reports will be on the Super-Wiki page soon if they aren't already. He did say that it was awesome to be treated so warmly at a convention about Supernatural, when his character killed one of the main characters.

AJ Buckley and Travis Wester (Ed Zedmore and Harry Spangler) - These guys are a hoot. Sometimes they answered some questions as themselves, and at other times you could tell they were chanelling their characters, the Ghostfacers. They talked about looking down on the Ghost Hunters people, who they briefly met just a month ago at Comic Con, because their stuff is so lame. They did not reveal if their characters would be back on Supernatural, but they seemed to think it was possible.

Misha Collins (Castiel) - FYI, the photo ops for Misha sold out at the convention. The line was insane. He has twitted for his minions to bring an egg and black construction paper to the panel, and was very surprised when so many did. He did gather the eggs at the end of the panel, and found it very hard to carry everything off stage. He said it was a power trip (rather than creepy) so many people did what he said, and that he now had to find a way to channel this for good works. One of his more serious answers (after skating a question about how Castiel really feels for Dean remarking on the supposed homoerotic subtext), was that he thought Castiel rebelled because he realized that he likes humans, and that he believes in God and had realized his superiors were no longer following God's will. One thing everyone loved was that Creation was trying out a new format of question taking which allowed guests to submit a question, then stand to be acknowledged before a moderator read the question to the guest. Misha refused to follow this and apparently caused a bit of a scene backstage, only taking questions from the guests themselves.

I was privelaged enough to attend a private (only 9 fans) party with Misha prior to his panel. I didn't learn anything exciting about season 5 as he kept us talking about more mundane stuff, but I can tell you he cheats at Go Fish, even though it didn't help him win.

I have to run to get ready for the Dessert Party, but I will try to post tomorrow night about that party, the Sunday morning breakfast, Jared and Jensen panels, and Jim Beaver's panel. I unfortuantly will not be able to report on Richard Speiget Jr's (the Trickster's) panel due to a conflict with the private party with Jim Beaver.

We appologize for this. It is during the discussion of the religious implications of Supernatural seasons 4 and 5 and can be skipped if you are trying to remain spoiler free.
